Reds on the mound:
Bronson Arroyo started and retired all six of his batters in two innings with one strikeout. Aroldis Chapman followed with two scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and three strikeouts. Nick Masset gave up all three Royals runs in the top of the fifth. Dusty Hughes allowed four earned runs on three hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings.

Royals on the mound: Starter Brian Bannister allowed one hit over two scoreless innings. Kyle Farnsworth followed and allowed five earned runs on six hits over 1 2/3 innings with three walks and two strikeouts.
Chapman threw 26 pitches, 15 for strikes. One scout's radar-gun reading on a Chris Getz called strikeout in the fourth inning registered 100 mph. The Reds' scout gun topped out at 99 mph.
Opening Day starter Aaron Harang will make his spring debut when the Reds host the D-backs on Tuesday at 3:05 p.m. ET/1:05 MT. Billy Buckner will start for Arizona. Behind Harang will be two candidates for the fifth spot in Matt Maloney and Justin Lehr. Maloney had a very sharp first outing when he pitched on Friday.
Robinson Tejeda and Kyle Davies, two of the pitchers vying for a rotation spot, hope for better showings on Tuesday when the Royals meet the Oakland A's at 2:05 p.m. CT at Surprise Stadium. Both had rough outings in the Cactus League opener against Texas. Also scheduled to pitch are setup candidate Roman Colon and non-roster right-handers Philip Humber and Bryan Bullington. The A's starter is Vin Mazzaro, 4-9 last year as a rookie.
