Bailey set to make next start after early exit

CINCINNATI -- Right-hander Homer Bailey came out of his start in the Reds' 6-4 loss to the Cubs on Thursday afternoon in the sixth inning with a slightly strained right knee. Bailey underwent a precautionary MRI, but is scheduled to make his next start after the All-Star break.

"The timing's good. We can put him on the back end of the rotation coming out of the All-Star break," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "It sounds like he should be good to go by that time."

With Starlin Castro at the plate to lead off the frame, Bailey began his delivery, but just as he was about to release the ball, he stopped in mid-motion. After Price and a trainer came out to the mound, Bailey exited the game.

Right-hander Sam LeCure came out of the bullpen to relieve Bailey, who allowed three runs on two hits, walking two, hitting two batters and striking out three on 71 pitches.
