CINCINNATI -- A crew chief review of a Joey Votto drive to the left-field fence confirmed that the Reds' first baseman hit a double in the fourth inning vs. the Brewers.

Leading off against Brewers starter Wily Peralta, Votto hit an opposite field drive to the top of the left-field wall. Thinking it was a home run, fans at Great American Ball Park cheered and the stadium fireworks display was even set off.

However, third-base umpire Mike Estabrook immediately ruled that Votto hit a double since the ball hit the top of the wall and returned into play. After a replay review ordered by crew chief Jerry Layne on the boundary call, the double was confirmed.

The Reds were not able to get Votto home as Peralta retired the rest of the side in order.
