The bobblehead depicts Sparky with his arm outstretched, pointing toward the bullpen and signaling for a right-handed pitcher to come into the game. He was coined "Captain Hook" for his frequent pitching changes, a reputation immortalized in this bobblehead. Sparky's effective use of the Big Red Machine's talented corps of relievers helped revolutionize the role of relief pitchers throughout baseball.
The bobblehead series, presented by Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, continues each month through September with a different Reds legend in a classic pose that highlights an iconic moment or image from their Reds career:
• May: Sparky Anderson
• June: Jim O'Toole
• July: Eric Davis
• August: Barry Larkin
• September: Pete Rose
Admission to the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum is $10 for adults, $8 for students/seniors and $6 for active military/veterans.
