Brennaman to call Reds games through 2016

Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman will remain as the voice of the Reds through 2016.

The 71-year-old Brennaman has called Reds games on 700 WLW Radio since 1974 and inked a three-year extension on Thursday to stay in the booth.

"I am truly fortunate and look forward to broadcasting Reds baseball for three more seasons," Brennaman said in a release. "I am even more fortunate to work for great people and with great people. Many thanks to the Castellini family, and to all the fans who make our network the best in baseball I say, 'This one belongs to the Reds.'"

This season was Brennaman's 49th as a broadcaster and 40th in Cincinnati. He received the Ford C. Frick Award in 2000, and he also has been elected to the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame, the National Radio Hall of Fame and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.

"We are big believers in baseball on the radio, which is why we've built our Reds on Radio Network into one of the largest and most prolific in Major League Baseball," Reds CEO Phil Castellini said in a statement. "We are proud to have Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman as the foundation around whom we build the rest of our broadcast team."
