Baker shrugs off Puig's celebratory slide

SAN DIEGO -- When Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig hit an 11th-inning walk-off home run to beat the Reds, 1-0, on Sunday, the highlights showed him doing a celebratory slide into home plate as teammates waited for him.

It was an unusual move following a homer, but Reds manager Dusty Baker wasn't aware of Puig's antics until being asked by a reporter on Monday.

"When I saw the ball go over the fence, I went into the clubhouse," Baker said. "I don't care. He can do what he wants. That's up to them to handle it. When I saw the ball go off of the bat, I gathered my stuff and went in.

"The one that I was opposed to was when he went into second base and he slid spikes high when he was picked off [in the seventh inning]. He spiked Cozart. That was the one that wasn't necessary. I'm not saying he tried to do it, but you can hurt somebody doing that."
