Cueto 'just off' with delivery vs. White Sox

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Johnny Cueto made his third start of the spring Sunday, but was erratic and never found a rhythm against the White Sox at Camelback Ranch.

"He was just off in his command and usually he's sharp," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "We wish he was sharper, but he wasn't. [But it's early and] we've got a long way to go."

After allowing two runs in a laborious four innings, Cueto lowered his spring ERA to an even 5.00.

"Yeah. Too fast," Cueto said when asked if he felt he was rushing his delivery. "I think my shoulder [was flying] open."

Cueto threw 64 pitches in his outing and allowed three hits. However, he struggled with his command as he walked three batters, hit one with a pitch and also had a wild pitch.

Despite the lack of command, Cueto was able to finish strong as he struck out the last two batters he faced, finishing his start on a positive note.

"It felt pretty good [to strike out] those last two hitters," Cueto said.
