Reds mourn loss of former minority owner Strike
Former Reds minority owner George Strike lost his battle with cancer Saturday, and on Tuesday the Reds offered their condolences to his family and friends.

Strike, who was 82, joined Reds ownership in the 1980s, and he sold his stake in the team in 2008.

"George Strike was a long-time, dedicated owner of the Cincinnati Reds and brought a very positive influence to the franchise," Reds President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Castellini said in a club release. "He was first and foremost a true Reds fan. George loved the Reds and his frequent presence in the stands at Great American Ball Park will be a terrible loss, but it gives us great solace in knowing that George will be there in spirit. Our franchise deeply valued his friendship and support."

Aside from baseball, Strike was a well-known businessman in the Cincinnati area and he also consistently offered his support for the University of Cincinnati and the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, and three sons.
