Cairo thrown out for arguing with umpire
CINCINNATI -- Reds utilityman Miguel Cairo was ejected from Monday's 5-3 loss to the D-backs for arguing with home-plate umpire Dan Bellino in the seventh inning.

Cairo, who was pinch-hitting for pitcher Alfredo Simon, tapped a ball in front of the plate. It appeared to roll backwards and foul, but Bellino ruled it fair, and catcher Miguel Montero tagged Cairo out. An enraged Cairo was tossed out quickly, and manager Dusty Baker also argued for several minutes to no avail.

"That ball looked like it was behind the plate from where I was," Baker said. "I've seen so many balls just hit and stop. The last week, there have been three or four of them." Cairo felt it was behind the plate too."
