Reds at the plate:
Playing in his second Spring Training game since signing a Minor League deal, Jerry Hairston Jr. stroked his first homer of the spring. Corey Patterson, who signed on the same day, collected two hits. Scott Hatteberg and Craig Tatum both clubbed a two-run homer.
Phillies on the mound:
Though he's a valuable part of the team's bullpen, Ryan Madson started and worked three solid innings. He allowed one run -- on a homer by Hairston -- Fabio Castro's inconsistent spring continued. He tossed two innings and surrendered two runs. Rule 5 Draft pick Travis Blackley surrendered a two-run home run.
Reds on the mound:
Bronson Arroyo, the team's projected No. 2 starter, tossed four innings. He allowed one run on three hits.
Grapefruit League Records:
Phillies 4-10-1, Reds 9-7.
