Walks proving nettlesome for Reds bullpen

LOS ANGELES -- The Reds bullpen led the National League in innings pitched entering Monday, but also came in leading the Majors in walks allowed. Jose Arredondo's four-pitch leadoff walk to No. 8 hitter Chris Stewart led to two runs and him getting the loss Sunday vs. the Giants.

Arredondo has walked the first batter in each of his previous three appearances and lost the last two.

"It's a concern especially when it's the leadoff batter," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "We've been doing that quite often lately. It's especially tough when it's the latter part of the ballgame and Bryan [Price, Reds pitching coach] has been addressing this.

"A lot of our guys are walking the first guy and after that are settling down. A lot of times, the sparks have already started the fire."
