Reds at the plate:
Edwin Encarnacion's RBI double in the bottom of the ninth off T.J. Beam was the walk-off game-winner for Cincinnati. Dewayne Wise drove in the tying run in the eighth with an RBI double to the right field gap. Paul Janish hit a rare warning track single to right field in the fourth inning. Janish was held up by runners Javier Valentin and David Ross on the basepaths. Pitcher Kyle Lohse picked them up when he followed Janish with a two-run single to right field. Minor Leaguer Enrique Cruz hit a two-run triple with one out in the bottom of the seventh and a leadoff double in the ninth.
Yankees at the plate:
In his second game back from a strained oblique, Bobby Abreu was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run to right field in the third inning. Alex Rodriguez led off the fifth inning with his first homer of spring, a first-pitch blast to left field. Josh Phelps added a leadoff homer to right field in the seventh.
Reds on the mound:
Lohse was tapped for six runs (five earned) in five innings of work. Lohse walked two and struck out five with a wild pitch and also allowed two home runs. David Weathers allowed one hit in one scoreless innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Dustin Hermanson, who retired all nine of his previous batters in three outings, gave up Phelps' homer in the seventh and two hits overall with a strikeout.
Yankees on the mound:
Yankees starter Carl Pavano gave up three earned runs and eight hits in his 4 1/3 innings. Pavano walked two and struck out two. Mike Myers pitched two-thirds of an inning with one hit and one strikeout. Kyle Farnsworth worked one scoreless inning and struck out two.
Grapefruit League records:
Reds 14-6; Yankees 12-8.
The Reds will venture to St. Petersburg on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. ET game against the Devil Rays. Meanwhile, the Yankees are back on the road for a 1:05 p.m. game vs. the Pirates at Bradenton.
