REDS 5, INDIANS 2
at Winter Haven, Fla.
Saturday, March 10

Reds at the plate: After a slow start, the Reds erupted in the middle innings. Juan Castro got them on the board with his two-run double in the sixth, and Bubba Crosby followed it up with an RBI double of his own. In the seventh, Anderson Machado drove in a run with a triple, and Chad Moeller knocked him in with a ground-rule double to left-center field.

Indians at the plate: Ryan Garko drove in his fourth run of the spring with a double in the fourth. In the fifth, Brad Snyder knocked home Luis Rivas with a single.

Reds on the mound: Veteran Paul Wilson, fighting for the last rotation spot, looked brilliant in three hitless innings in which he allowed just one walk. Right-hander Jared Burton surrendered a run on two hits in one inning, and right-hander Kirk Saaloos gave up a run on three hits in two innings.

Indians on the mound: Right-hander Jake Westbrook was in midseason form, giving up just a pair of hits with four strikeouts in three innings of work. Closer Joe Borowski continued his scoreless spring by keeping the Reds at bay in the fourth. Brian Slocum made his spring debut and worked out of trouble in the fifth before Aaron Laffey coughed up three runs in the sixth.

Grapefruit League records: Reds 7-2; Indians 7-4.

Up next: The Reds return home to Sarasota to face the Pirates at 1:05 p.m. ET. Left-hander Eric Milton will start opposite left-hander Tom Gorzelanny. The Indians head west to Tampa to face the Yankees at 1:05 p.m. Right-hander Fausto Carmona will get the start against right-hander Chien-Ming Wang.
