Twins at the plate: Joe Mauer extended his Grapefruit League hitting streak to two games as he went 1-for-2 with a hard-hit single up the first-base line. Jeff Cirillo went 2-for-2 with a run scored in his Twins debut.

Reds at the plate: Edwin Encarnacion continued his reputation as a Twins nemesis when he delivered a solo home run in the fourth inning, his first of the spring. Scott Hatteberg went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Twins on the mound: Starter Ramon Ortiz delivered a solid first outing as he pitched two innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out one. Lefty Glen Perkins followed Ortiz and allowed one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout. Closer Joe Nathan pitched one scoreless inning.

Reds on the mound: Kyle Lohse was limited to just two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on two hits while walking two. He left the game with a mild strain in his right hamstring after hitting Torii Hunter in the head with a wayward pitch. Matt Belisle pitched two innings and allowed one run on two hits.

Grapefruit League records: Twins 0-2-1; Reds 2-0.

Up next: The Reds and Twins will make it two contests in two days as the teams meet up again Saturday in Sarasota. Right-hander Boof Bonser will make his first start of the spring for the Twins. The Reds will send right-hander Aaron Harang to the mound.
