Many options for Opening Day tickets

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Get ready for a new way to land Reds Opening Day tickets.

The club announced on Wednesday that tickets for the Reds' April 2 opener against the Cubs can be acquired through several different options.

This Saturday is the last chance to guarantee an Opening Day ticket when purchasing a season-ticket plan. From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. ET, fans can come to Great American Ball Park to select their seats. Fans that purchase a season-ticket plan will also receive two free vouchers to the Reds' Hall of Fame and Museum. Fans can also purchase season tickets on this day at reds.com.

The next chance at Opening Day tickets will come through the "Power Pack Sale" on Saturday, March 3, and exclusively on reds.com. Fans can purchase 11-game ticket packages that include the first three games of the season, all five fireworks nights and the June 8-10 Interleague series against the Indians.

"Power Pack" ticket prices range from $92-$257 per ticket package. Online service charges also apply.

"It's a great package across the board," said Brad Blettner, Reds vice president for business development. "It's not, 'Let's take advantage of Opening Day demand.' It's, 'Let's make sure we put together a package that our consumers want to buy.'"

Any Opening Day tickets still available after the first two opportunities can come via a lottery-type system. From March 5-6, fans that register online at reds.com will have a chance to buy Opening Day tickets. Winners will be notified via email beginning March 7 and will have until 12 p.m. ET on March 9 to purchase a designated number of tickets. Additional information is available at reds.com.

The Reds are the oldest professional baseball franchise in the Majors with a rich Opening Day tradition, including the honor of beginning each season at home. Nearly a guaranteed sellout every year, fans have ritually camped out several days in advance for a chance to get Opening Day tickets. The new system prevents the need to camp out for tickets.

"We want to make sure all Reds fans have an equal opportunity to buy an Opening Day ticket," Blettner said. "The tradition in Cincinnati makes it a tough ticket. It's being done so that all consumers aren't trying to get the same ticket at the same time. It's more customer friendly. They can get the tickets from the comfort and convenience at home on reds.com."

All 2007 regular-season games, except for Opening Day, will go on sale Saturday, March 10 at 9 a.m. on reds.com. They can also be purchased in person at Great American Ball Park, area Meijer stores or by phone at (513) 381-REDS (7337) and (877) 647-REDS.

More information on all Reds regular season and season ticket packages can be found in the ticketing section of reds.com.
