COACHING CAREER: Caleb Cotham is in his first season as a professional coach...played at Vanderbilt University when current Reds' pitching coach Derek Johnson was working for the Commodores...after his playing career ended following the 2016 season, Cotham worked in Brentwood, Tennessee as the director of pitching for the Bledsoe Agency.

PLAYING CAREER: Over the 2015 and 2016 seasons made 35 Major League apps, all in relief for the Yankees and Reds...was selected by the Yankees in the fifth round of the 2009 first-year player draft...in December 2015 was traded to the Reds, along with RHP Rookie Davis, 3B Eric Jagielo and 2B Tony Renda, in exchange for LHP Aroldis Chapman...during the 2016 season made just 23 relief apps for the Reds because of inflammation in his right shoulder and a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee...following a pair of rehabilitation apps in June and July, on 8/2/16 had season-ending microfracture surgery on his knee...in February 2017 was signed by the Mariners to a minor league contract but during spring training voluntarily retired...in a 5-2 Yankees loss at Tex 7/29/15, threw 1.2 scoreless innings in his big league debut (2h, 0bb, 4k)...became only the 11th Yankees pitcher since 1914 to record at least 4 strikeouts in his big league debut and only the sixth Yankee with 4 strikeouts and no runs in his debut.

PERSONAL: Graduated from Mt. Juliet (TN) High School, where as a junior and senior he was captain of the baseball team, 3 times All-District, District MVP as a junior, All-Region and All-State as a junior and 9-AAA Tournament MVP as a senior...was junior class president and a member of the National Junior Honor Society...follow on Twitter @ceetwo35.
